Mahim- A new cycle track which was built near by Mahim railway station has been encroached upon by destitutes, causing inconvenience to commuters who now have no place to park their bicycles.

A month ago, this cycle park was built for cyclists who commute to Mahim station daily. The BMC claimed to have spent Rs. 42,000 for three cycle parking zones.

Civic officials had believed that construction of the cycle park would curb the menace of local  illegal hawkers who frequent the area. However, in no time, the zone has now been encroached upon by destitutes. “The problem is that cyclists do not park their cycles in a stand and so, destitutes have taken over the stand,” says Ramakant Birajdar, assistant deputy commissioner, G/ North ward.
