As per recent reports, a major fire broke out at a girls hostel in the DY Patil University campus in Nerul. The hostel is located close to the DY Patil Stadium and it is said that heavy smoke was seen behind the stadium area seen from sector 9 in Nerul.
The fire broke out at 1:45 PM and several Twitter users shared the message on the social media platform. Fire engines, ambulance and other rescue teams were called immediately to douse the fire.
A senior official from the Fire brigade unit said that the fire was in the under-construction, unoccupied building for girl hostels and piles of thermocol caught fire. It was soon extinguished and no injuries or casualties have been reported. More information about the incident is awaited.
