BMC to beautify Flora Fountain to attract tourists

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has proposed to beautify Flora Fountain near Hutatma Chowk, Fort, Mumbai. The municipal corporation has planned to renovate the surroundings with attractive tiles which will add to the beautification of the area and will attract the visitors.

Flora Fountain was built by the Portuguese in the year 1864 and the site is divided into three categories which consist of the sculpture of a Roman deity, and three statues of women.

A company named INTAK has been entrusted with the responsibility of repairing the furnaces and to make this beautification a success, the BMC has appointed renowned architect Vishad Vikas. The whole process is expected to be completed by June 30, 2018.

BMC’s Executive Engineer Sanjay Sawant informed that the basic stage to start this beautification process is to repairing the sculptures and statues. However, along with this, the temple of Karanja beautification process has been undertaken.

The contractor has been selected for this process and the proposal has been approved by the standing committee.
