The demolition of the unauthorised Jain temple structure in the Kambli Wadi area of Vile Parle East was carried out lawfully by the BMC under the MRTP Act, Justice Gauri Godse confirmed during the July 7, 2025 hearing in the Bombay High Court. This ruling validated the actions of Assistant Commissioner Navnath Ghadge.
The demolition, conducted on April 16, led to political backlash and protests by the Jain community. As a result, Ghadge was removed from his post. However, the High Court has now upheld the BMC’s action as legal and proper.

Following this, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Engineers Union has urged Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani to reinstate Ghadge as Assistant Commissioner of K/East Ward. They also requested that his previously approved promotion to Deputy Chief Engineer (Civil), which was withheld due to the controversy, be granted. The union emphasized that restoring Ghadge to his position would correct the injustice caused by his sudden transfer and uphold his dignity.
