In Navi Mumbai’s Rabale area (Thane district), a man named Aditya Singh died after falling into a water-filled quarry around midnight, according to disaster control officials.
In Kalyan, the Runde bridge was submerged and has been closed to traffic. Vehicles are being diverted via the Khadavli–Utarne route, said tehsildar Sachin Shejal.
A tree collapse early Wednesday at a housing society in Wagle Estate left the nearby security wall unstable. The tree was removed and the wall demolished to prevent further risk, said disaster management chief Yasin Tadvi. No injuries were reported.
In Palghar district, flooding affected low-lying areas and disrupted movement in many places. On Tuesday, 194 people trapped by rising waters in Vasai taluka were rescued using boats and ropes, officials said.
Rescue teams, including the NDRF, relocated several residents to safer locations and temporary camps, said Palghar disaster chief Vivekanand Kadam.
The Thane Municipal Corporation recorded 186.91 mm of rain in the past 24 hours. Seasonal rainfall now stands at 2,327.14 mm, slightly lower than 2,517.89 mm during the same period last year.
Authorities remain on high alert, as more heavy rain is forecast.
