Bombay Foundation of Deaf Women Institution had been working for hearing impaired women since 1983. They have been creating job opportunities for urban as well as rural women. “Hearing impaired women are different than able women and have hidden potential. But few people explore their talent. Here, we try and give them training and opportunities to make them self-independent,” said Rajlaxmi Rao, president, AIFDW.

This institution gives training to hearing impaired women so that they can stand on their own feet. The training programme was organised at Dadar’s D’silva school where governor’s C. Vidyasagar Rao’s wife Vinoda Rao was present as a chief guest. Along with this, Japan’s social activist Masako communicated with women in sign language.
