As heavy rains lashed the city, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alert in Mumbai for today, May 26.
The heavy rainfall has resulted in waterlogging across the city, disrupting vehicular movement and daily life. Mumbai local trains have also been affected as it is running slow and delayed by few minutes.
The weather department has warned Mumbaikars to brace for more rainfall.
The IMD placed Borivali, Santacruz, Powai, Mulund, Chembur, Worli, Colaba, and Alibag under red alert. These alerts are triggered when extremely heavy rainfall is expected and may affect significantly.
A red alert has been issued for Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Thane, while an orange alert is in place for Sindhudurg, Navi Mumbai, Palghar and Kalyan.
According to latest Mumbai weather updates, between 6:00 am and 7:00 am, several areas in Mumbai recorded significant rainfall. Nariman Point Fire Station registered 40 mm, followed by Grant Road Eye Hospital with 36 mm and Memonwada Fire Station with 35 mm. Other notable rainfall measurements included Colaba Fire Station (31 mm), C Ward Office (35 mm), and Byculla Fire Station (21 mm).
In Maharashtra, particularly in the coastal Konkan belt and Mumbai, heavy pre-monsoon showers have been observed over the past two days.
On May 26, the minimum temperature recorded at Santacruz observatory was 25.7 degrees Celsius and Colaba recorded 23.2 degrees Celsius, which 5 degrees below normal.
The maximum temperature at Santacruz and Colaba observatory on May 25 was at 30.5 and 29. 3 degrees Celsius, which is 5 degrees below normal.
