Ahead of the Lok Sabha Election results, Amul announced that they will be rising the price of Amul milk by ₹2/litre which means that Amul Taaza's rate has been increased from ₹42 to ₹44 and Amul Gold's new price is ₹54 from ₹52. The new rates will be levied from May 21, 2019. Notably, in 2017, Amul had surged their price as the cost of production had also gone up.

R.S. Sodhi, Managing Director of Amul has said that over the last one year, there has been a major increase in the price of major cattle feed ingredients and green fodder. To ensure that it doesn’t impact production, they have increased farmers’ price by ₹2-3/litre and will be increasing it further. Hence, the additional cost has been passed on to the consumer.
