Mumbai Flyovers Must Be Immediately Repaired & Resurfaced: Eknath Shinde

Repairs and resurfacing of all flyovers in Mumbai should begin immediately, directed Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde adding that it work should be completed by February 2026.

He also stated that the Urban Development Department should establish a quality control cell comprised of experts to oversee the repair work.

A meeting was held in the Deputy Chief Minister's Committee Room at the Secretariat to review the current status and repair work on all flyovers in Mumbai. Principal Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister Naveen Sona, MSRDA Managing Director Anil Kumar Gaikwad, and other officials were present. Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani and MMRDA Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee participated via video conference.

Mumbai has a total of 24 flyovers, five of which are owned by the MSRDA and 19 by the MEP, and the process of transferring these to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is underway. However, now that the monsoon has ended, these flyovers must be repaired immediately, Deputy Chief Minister Shinde said. All these roads must be repaired. The Deputy Chief Minister also directed that where the roads have become uneven, the road stones should be removed and the roads leveled on a war footing.

The Deputy Chief Minister also directed that 42 flyovers under the jurisdiction of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation be repaired immediately, and also directed the repair of the Atal Setu.
