Mumbaikars will soon see the country's first electric (EV) bike ambulance for animals on the city's streets. Capable of navigating through traffic congestion, this special ambulance will transport injured, sick, abandoned, or distressed small animals to veterinary hospitals without delay.

The 'JeevOne Lifeline' EV bike ambulance service was inaugurated on Wednesday, June 24, through a joint initiative by the animal welfare organization 'JeevOne' and the Yuva Sena Animal Welfare Force.

Addressing the Need for Urgent Animal Transport

Animal rescue campaigns are gaining momentum across the country. However, the lack of affordable and immediate transport options to get injured or sick animals to hospitals on time creates significant challenges. Recognizing this issue, the 'JeevOne Lifeline' concept was brought to fruition after six months of planning.

Sanket Bhatt, the organization's founder and an animal welfare entrepreneur, stated, "When an animal's life is at stake, timely assistance is crucial. This bike ambulance has been designed with that very objective in mind."

10 EV Bike Ambulances in Mumbai

In the pilot phase of this project, approximately 10 EV bike ambulances will be deployed across various parts of Mumbai. The initiative aims to understand operational challenges, enhance the effectiveness of the response system, and eventually expand the project across Maharashtra and the rest of the country.

Key features of this service:

  • Rapid emergency assistance for injured and sick animals
  • Affordable transport facilities for animal lovers, volunteers, and rescuers
  • Quick access to veterinary treatment
  • Service management and tracking powered by technology
  • More effective support for voluntary organizations and animal welfare groups

Service launched in Thane

This first EV bike ambulance was formally inaugurated in Thane by Yuva Sena President Purvesh Sarnaik.

Aiming for state-wide expansion

The long-term objective of this initiative is to establish a network of EV bike ambulances for animals across Maharashtra. To achieve this, an appeal has been made to industry bodies, CSR partners, social organizations, and philanthropists to sponsor ambulances and participate in the initiative.
