Coronavirus cases are increasing exponentially in several districts across Maharashtra. However, the government has permitted certain activities in the state under Unlock 4.0 guidelines and asked the citizens to strictly follow the rules and maintain social distancing to ensure safety. As per updates, the local municipal corporations have been asked to keep a close eye regarding the same, and if the rules are flouted, citizens will have to pay a fine for the same.
Following up on this, the Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has taken action against the citizens who did not wear masks in public places, and this check was conducted from April 2020 until the end of August. As per reports, authorities at KDMC have collected a sum of INR 5 lakhs so far, as fines regarding the matter.
The municipality is conducting regular checks in a strict manner, and officials are recovering fines from citizens, on a regular basis. Authorities have stated that many people do not bother wearing masks in public, and this poses risks for others near them and can cause danger.
Additional Commissioner at the KDMC, Sunil Pawar, said that the process is underway to collect fines from citizens, as they should follow the rule of wearing masks in public places and comply with the social discrimination norms. Furthermore, higher authorities have also given orders to prosecute shopkeepers who do not follow these rules when customers attend their shops. He further appealed to the citizens to ensure the COVID19 guidelines are followed, thereby maintaining safety.
