On Thursday morning, carcass of a male leopard was found in a village in Virar. Forest officer Namrata Pawar of Mandvi range said that the male leopard was possibly around five-years-old and had injury marks all over his body. The leopard was found lying in a field at Bhamatpada village.
On Wednesday night, the leopard was first spotted by a forest staffer, Subhash Patil while he was on duty. Patil then informed senior forest officials about the leopard’s movement. The next morning, around at around 10:00, forest officials were informed that the animal was found dead in the field.

Pawar informed that all his body parts, including the paws, were intact, indicating that the animal had not been hunted down. She added that whether it was a case of electrocution or whether it was poisoning, it will be established in the autopsy.
