The Maharashtra government led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will present the state budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the Legislative Assembly in the next two days, i.e. on Friday, March 6.

Many important financial provisions are likely to be announced in this budget. The focus will be especially on the Ladki Bahin Yojana. According to reports, the monthly allowance amount under this scheme may be increased to INR 2,100. However, no official confirmation has been made in this regard yet.

The previous budget had made a provision of about INR 36,000 crores for the Ladki Bahin Yojana for the financial year 2025-26. Now a new fund is expected to be announced for 2026-27.

Apart from welfare schemes for women, important decisions may also be announced for farmers. It is expected that an announcement will be made regarding loan waiver or other relief measures.

Meanwhile, the decision to increase the monthly assistance to INR 2,100 was announced two years ago. But it has not been implemented yet. Therefore, everyone is watching whether this announcement will be implemented in this year's budget.

The state government currently has a debt of more than INR 9 lakh crore. Although the loans have been taken within the limits set by the central government and the Reserve Bank, the state's financial position is not strong enough to announce major new expenditure plans. There is also no political urgency.

Therefore, the Fadnavis government will give priority to ongoing projects rather than announcing new schemes. Emphasis is likely to be placed on completing irrigation schemes and other infrastructure projects.
