Maharashtra govt to offer jobs to kin of employees died during their service

The state government of Maharashtra, on Monday, September 27, 2021, announced the decision to offer provide jobs to eligible family members of class A and B employees who passed away during their service. 

As per reports, the decision has been taken on compassionate grounds, whereby the job will provide financial support to their family after the demise of their family member. 

An order regarding the same was released by the state government’s General Administration Department on Monday, September 27, 2021. This was earlier applicable as a policy for family members of class C and D employees; however, authorities were considering the extension of the policy to the family members of class A and B officials as well.

Discussions were being held keeping the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in mind, mentioned the order. Officials, after much deliberation, considered the same on compassionate ground whereby the same was finalized at a state cabinet meeting on August 26, 2021. The order was released a month later, i.e., on Monday, September 27, 2021, which states that the policy will be applicable from January 1, 2020, retrospectively.
