'Masoom' scheme for mental health of children in child care institutions

The Women and Child Development Department is implementing the 'Masoom' project through Mpower to provide mental health services and counselling to distressed and law-abiding children living in child care institutions (CCIs) of the state.

Over 3000 children benefitted

With the sensitive decision of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, 3,337 children have benefited from this project so far and a total of 9593 individual counselling sessions have been conducted. The Women and Child Development Department of Maharashtra is implementing the 'Masoom' project through Mpower, an initiative of Aditya Birla Education Trust, to strengthen child welfare and mental health work in the state.

Mental health services and counselling to distressed and law-abiding children

Under this project, mental health services and counselling are provided to distressed and law-abiding children living in child care institutions. This public-private partnership initiative has been launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Service launched in February 2023

Following a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Women and Child Development in February 2023, the project is being implemented in Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Nagpur and Nashik. A total of 19 child care institutions are being served by a team of five psychologists.
