MEMU shuttle local service is likely to start soon on the Mumbai-Nashik railway route. Taking an important step in this direction, the Central Railway administration has started testing MEMU locals on challenging routes like Kasara Ghat. With this, passengers traveling between these two cities will no longer have to depend on mail or express trains.

For the last few years, the railway administration was trying to start a local service between Mumbai and Nashik. But due to some technical difficulties, this project was stopped. Now the administration is considering the possibilities of starting MEMU shuttle service like the Diva-Vasai route. In this test, the capacity of MEMU local is being tested on the ups and downs of Kasara Ghat. Horsepower capacity - These tests are testing things like the horsepower capacity (5,400 tonnes) and weight (500 tonnes) of the MEMU local. The climb up the Kasara Ghat requires twice the weight capacity and the MEMU local four times that.

The MEMU local is designed similar to the Vande Bharat Express and has 19 coaches. It has 6 motor coaches that provide speed to the local. This is expected to make this local train faster and more efficient.
