Within a short span, the cancer screening van successfully reached thousands of people. The campaign, conducted under the guidance of Thane District Collector Dr. Shrikrishna Panchal and CEO Manoj Ranade, was operational from 3 November to 29 November 2025. During this period, 5,143 samples were tested, out of which 53 individuals were identified as suspected cancer patients.
The primary objective of this initiative is early detection of cancer, ensuring timely treatment, providing counselling and guidance, and spreading awareness among the public. Officials stated that early diagnosis significantly improves treatment outcomes, making this initiative highly valuable. The mobile van travelled across various villages, offering free cancer screening to citizens.
The screening mainly focused on three major types of cancer:
Oral cancer
Breast cancer
Cervical cancer
The campaign was conducted in Kalyan, Bhiwandi, Ambernath, Murbad, and Shahapur, the five talukas of Thane district using the mobile van.
According to District Surgeon Dr. Kailas Pawar and District Health Officer Dr. Gangadhar Parge, the initiative successfully reached a large number of citizens in a short duration, offering them free screening facilities.

Out of these, 8 samples have been sent to the laboratory for further testing.
