The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) ST bus fares will be increased by 10 percent during the Diwali rush season. This fare hike will be effective for a total of 22 days from October 15 to November 05, 2025.

Notably, MSRTC has issued a circular stating that passengers who have made advance bookings will also have to deposit the difference between the old and new fares with the carrier. The fare hike will apply not only to ordinary, simple, and express bus services but also to popular services such as semi-luxury, sleeper (basic), Shivshahi, and JanShivneri.

Important changes and rules for travelers

Travelers should keep the following in mind when planning their trip:

Effective Date: The increased fares will be applicable to passengers who commence their journey from 00.00 hrs on October 15, 2025.

Advance Booking: Passengers who have already booked their tickets will have to pay the difference between the old and new ticket fares to the carrier.

Passes and discounts: This fare increase will not apply to those using Student Passes and Monthly-Quarterly Passes. However, this 10 percent price increase will also be applicable for concessional tickets available to other social groups.

Which bus fares have not increased?

A matter of relief for the passengers is that there has been no change in the fares of the air-conditioned Shivneri (Shivneri AC), 09 meter and 12 meter E-Buses (Shiwai) (E-Buses - Shiwai) services.
