Mumbai: BMC to dedicate 24 spots to bicycle parking in H west ward

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as a part of its pilot project has decided to dedicate 24 spots across the H West ward to bicycle parking as a part of its pilot project. Each of these stands can park five bicycles and two stands will be installed in each of the selected spots, as per the plan. 

NGO Smart Commute Foundation along with Ashish Shelar, BJP MLA from Bandra West constituency designed a proposal under the initiative Cycle Chala City Bacha and presented it to the BMC commissioner Iqbal Chahal.

Chahal approved the plan and has approved a few spots in the H West ward. As per the proposal, some of the selected spots include Bandra (West), Khar (West) and Santacruz (West) railway stations and other prominent spots selected for placing the stands are Carter Road, Bandstand, Rizvi College and National College, outside various parks and a few market areas.

A total of 50 stands will be installed as per the proposal. Each stand can park five bicycles, in total, these stands can accommodate 250 bicycles. Chahal told Hindustan Times that once the pilot is executed and tested, the BMC will implement this project in all wards.
