Mumbai University (MU) has been in the limelight for all the wrong reasons for a while now. Right from goofing up the online assessment handing out the tender to Meri Track company, despite its irregularities.
In a recent case, MU’s boxing team left for Punjab to participate in the National Intercollegiate Boxing Competition from a long-distance train. However, despite their status, they had to travel by sitting near the toilet, only because MU could not confirm their tickets.
The event is going to take place from November 18 to November 25 in Punjab where varsity’s team of nine players and one coach have headed for the competition.
We were told that our tickets are not confirmed but as the competition is nearing, we had to travel by sitting near the toilet. However, this is not the first time we are facing problems. They should have booked tickets a month prior to the competition,” Saurabh Lonekar, Boxer
Mumbai University in their defense said that the competition was rescheduled and they got to know about it very late.
The timetable we have says that the competition was scheduled in January 2018 but it was changed at the last moment. We got a letter in the last week of October stating that the competition will take place in November. This is why our tickets were not confirmed,” Uttam Kendra, director, MU’s department of physical education and sports.
