Mumbai: Consuls of Japan, Finland, and China Meet Governor Acharya Devvrat; EV Ventures in Focus

The Consuls General of Japan (Yagi Koji), Finland (Erik af Hällström), and China (Qin Ji) met Maharashtra and Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai, on Monday, February 23, 2026, to discuss enhancing trade, infrastructure, and cultural cooperation.

Japan’s Consul General highlighted the new Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s commitment to strengthening India-Japan ties and state-level collaboration. He also announced that the Toyota–Kirloskar electric vehicle project will soon start in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and noted Japan’s involvement in Maharashtra infrastructure projects like the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train, Atal Setu, and Metro Line 3, with over 800 Japanese companies operating in the state.

Finland’s Consul General informed that the Finnish President will visit India in March, including a stop in Mumbai, while China’s Consul General discussed expanding bilateral trade, educational, and cultural ties.

The meetings were attended by Governor’s Secretary Dr. Prashant Narnavare and Deputy Secretary S. Ramamoorthy.
