Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the BMC administration to ensure that there are no potholes along the routes used for the arrival and immersion of Ganesh idols during Ganeshotsav.
In a post on X, Shinde noted that around 1,850 km of roads in Mumbai have been concretised. He instructed the civic administration to pay special attention to Ganesh idol arrival and immersion routes and immediately address any local-level shortcomings.
Shinde also said that steps have been taken to provide Ganesh mandals with permission for five years at a time. He urged Ganesh mandal office-bearers and volunteers to remain alert against attempts to spread rumours through social media. Any suspicious activity should be immediately reported to the police or concerned authorities.
Shinde also appealed to mandals to ensure the safe transportation of large Ganesh idols. The idol’s structure, nuts and bolts, welding and other joints should be checked to ensure they are secure. During Ganesh idol arrival and immersion processions, children and devotees should be kept at a safe distance from the idols to prevent accidents, he said.
