Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has warned hotels, restaurants, street food vendors and organisers of Ganeshotsav events that strict action will be taken against those violating food safety regulations during the festival.

Mundhe has directed officials to conduct inspections and take action wherever violations of food safety norms are found. Food businesses are expected to maintain proper hygiene, use safe and quality ingredients, and follow prescribed standards for food preparation and storage.

The FDA has also cautioned organisers distributing Mahaprasad to ensure that food is prepared, stored and served under hygienic conditions. Any negligence that could put consumers’ health at risk may result in action under the applicable food safety laws.
