The Bombay High Court has allowed a UK-based doctor, booked over alleged objectionable Facebook posts against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders, to travel back to the United Kingdom, subject to certain conditions.
The case stems from an FIR registered in December 2025 based on a complaint alleging that the doctor, Sangram Patil, had posted defamatory and objectionable content on social media targeting political leaders. Following the FIR, a Look-Out Circular (LOC) was issued against him, restricting his international travel. He was subsequently stopped at Mumbai airport in January 2026 while attempting to fly back to the UK.
During the hearing, Patil assured the court that he would cooperate with the investigation and appear before authorities whenever required. His family also submitted undertakings supporting this assurance.
Taking note of these submissions, the court directed authorities to modify the LOC, allowing him to travel abroad while ensuring that the investigation is not hampered.
The court clarified that Patil must comply with all conditions and remain available to investigating agencies as and when required.
