The main construction of the flyover near Vikhroli railway station, which connects the eastern and western suburbs of Mumbai, has been completed within the scheduled time. It has been reported that all the remaining work will be completed in the next two days.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration has informed that the Vikhroli Bridge will be opened for traffic soon in coordination with the traffic police.
The deadline for the construction, civil works and ancillary works of the Vikhroli Bridge, in coordination with the BMC's Bridge Department, was set by Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Abhijit Bangar till May 31, 2025. Accordingly, all the main works of the bridge have been completed within the stipulated period.
The east-west side will be connected by a flyover over the railway line at Vikhroli in the eastern suburbs. This bridge will connect Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg in Vikhroli West and the Eastern Express Highway in the eastern area. It will save about 30 minutes in travel time.

The bridge constructed on the railway line near Vikhroli railway station has a total width of 12 meters and a length of 615 meters. Out of which 565 meters have been constructed by the BMC. The remaining 50 meters have been constructed by the Railways.
A total of seven beams have been installed by the Railway Department and their total weight is 655 tons. The beams installed by the civic body on this bridge weigh about 2142 tons. Also, the length of these beams is 24 to 30 meters. A total of 18 beams have been laid in three phases of the bridge.
