Mumbai-Pune Expressway Closed For 1 Hour Today; Check Alternate Routes Here

One-hour traffic block will be in place on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway today, Thursday, May 23. During the block, work will be done to install gantry, which is a traffic management system equipment. According to the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), this block will be between 12 pm and 1 pm.

Vehicular traffic on the expressway will be completely closed during the block. Keeping in mind the convenience of motorists, MSRDC has made important changes in the traffic route. Under this, light vehicles coming from Pune to Mumbai by expressway will be diverted towards Mumbai via the old Mumbai-Pune highway. So, buses will be diverted from Khopoli exit towards the city via Shedung toll road and heavy vehicles will be diverted from the old highway.

Vehicles will be diverted to Mumbai via expressway from Khalapur toll plaza. The installation of ITMS on the 95-km highway has been underway since the end of last year to ease traffic congestion on the expressway.

According to the release, vehicles coming from Mumbai to Pune via the expressway will be diverted via NH 48 from the old Mumbai-Pune highway. Similarly, light vehicles and buses coming from Pune to Mumbai will be diverted from Khopoli exit NH 48 to continue their journey towards Mumbai by crossing Shedung Toll.

Light and heavy vehicles coming from Pune to Mumbai will be diverted from the last lane at Khalapur exit and will continue to travel on the old Pune-Mumbai highway after going through Khopoli town to Shedung toll booth, while light and heavy vehicles coming from Pune to Mumbai will be routed through Pune. The expressway will exit from Panvel and continue its journey towards Mumbai, the press release said, and vehicles coming from Pune to Mumbai via NH 48 will be diverted directly towards Panvel from Shedung Phata.
