The Mumbai traffic police has announced significant traffic restrictions on several parts of western and eastern suburbs due to expected large gatherings and processions on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti celebrations on April 2, 2026.

Western Suburbs Restrictions

  • A major procession will begin at the Hanuman Temple Vakola, with an estimated 8,000–10,000 devotees participating.
  • The route will pass through key areas including Vakola Junction, Nehru Road, Golibar Road, Abdul Hakim Chowk, and Khar Subway before looping back.
  • Authorities have flagged congestion risks, especially along narrow stretches and construction zones on Golibar Road.
  • Road closures will be enforced from 6:00 pm to midnight on April 2.
  • The stretch from Vakola Junction to Santacruz East railway station up to Khar Subway will be closed to all vehicles.
  • Motorists are advised to avoid Nehru Road, Golibar Road, and Khar Subway during peak hours.
  • Alternate routes such as the Milan Subway and Milan Flyover have been recommended.
  • Traffic police personnel will be deployed to manage vehicle flow and assist commuters.

Eastern Suburbs Restrictions

  • Under the Sakinaka Traffic Division, restrictions will be in place near the Shri Maruti Temple JVLR along the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) service road.
  • Vehicular entry (except emergency services) will be prohibited on the southbound service road stretch near Laxmi Hotel.
  • The restrictions will remain active from 9:00 pm on April 1 until 10:00 am on April 2.
  • Parking will not be allowed in the affected zone during this period.
  • Vehicles will be diverted to the main JVLR southbound carriageway.

  • Citizens are urged to plan travel in advance and follow designated diversions.
  • Traffic police emphasized that these measures are intended to ensure safety, reduce congestion, and facilitate smooth movement during the festival.
