The Mumbai Transport Stack (MTS) is officially underway, an open data exchange platform that will unify city's entire transport network and unlock affordable, next-generation mobility for Mumbaikars.

The MMRDA has partnered with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to design and build this groundbreaking platform, with support from JICA Dx Lab, which has helped cities around the world create open, data-driven transport ecosystem.

Under the leadership of Dr Sanjay Mukherjee, IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, Rubal Agarwal, IAS, Managing Director, Maha Mumbai Metro, and Shri Ajinkya Padwal, Deputy Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, held detailed consultations on Wednesday, February 18, with Yamada Tomoyuki, Senior Director, Office for Science, Technology and Information and Digital Transformation, JICA, and Naemura Maliko, Deputy Director, to kickstart this mission to transform mobility across the MMR.

How is Transport Stack useful for citizens?

It will enable:

  • End to end ticket booking
  • Real-time tracking of trains, buses, and metros
