KEM's ward no 4 will not be named after late nurse Aruna Shanbaug

BMC has refused to name the ward no 4 of KEM hospital after late nurse Aruna Shanbaug. This was denied by the BMC’s medical education and director Dr. Avinash Supe.
Aruna Shanbaug was working as a nurse with KEM hospital when she was raped by a ward boy in the hospital. Such was the rape, she slipped into a coma. Nurses used to take care of her 24/7 and she died on 18 May 2015 when she was 42 years old. And in her remembrance, Shiv Sena’s corporator Sheetal Mhatre put up the proposal to rename the ward no 4 after Aruna Shanbaug where she spent her 42 years of her life. “We will be starting a library and gymnasium in nurse’s home.
