The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has disconnected water supply and sewerage connections to several buildings classified under the C1 (extremely dangerous) category as part of its monsoon safety measures.
The civic body had earlier appealed to residents of buildings listed as highly dangerous to vacate the premises to prevent any untoward incidents during the rainy season.
Following the directions of the Chief Minister and under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rahul Gethe, along with Deputy Commissioners Dr. Amol Palwe (Zone 1) and Sanjay Shinde (Zone 2), conducted an on-site inspection of C1-category buildings across Navi Mumbai. To ensure public safety and discourage continued occupancy, the authorities disconnected water supply and sewerage connections to these buildings.
The affected buildings include:
Belapur: White House Co-operative Housing Society, Sector 21, Nerul (East).
Nerul: Shivneri Co-operative Housing Society, Buildings 1, 2 and 3, Sector 3.
Vashi: Little Flower Co-operative Housing Society (Building No. 9), Noor Co-operative Housing Society, C1 and C2 Type Buildings (Buildings 1–12) in Sector 2, and Sumangal Apartments in Sector 3.
Koparkhairane: Gagangiri Co-operative Housing Society (Buildings 1–13), Silver Nest Co-operative Housing Society in Sector 15, and Raj Palace Co-operative Housing Society in Sector 2.
Additional City Engineer Madan Waghchaude, assistant commissioners, ward officers, officials from the encroachment department, executive engineers, deputy engineers, and other civic staff were present during the inspection and implementation of the action.
