The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has released a list of 504 dangerous buildings within its jurisdiction after conducting a ward-wise survey for the year 2026–2027.
According to the survey, these buildings have been classified as dangerous under Section 264 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act. The classification includes 52 extremely dangerous buildings marked under the ‘C-1’ category, which are unfit for living and require immediate evacuation. Another 102 buildings fall under the ‘C-2A’ category, which require structural repairs after being vacated, while 297 buildings are listed under ‘C-2B’, which need repairs without evacuation. Additionally, 53 buildings are categorized under ‘C-3’, requiring minor repairs.
The civic body has made the complete list available on its official website, under the ‘Encroachment Department’ section. The names of all 52 C-1 category buildings have been highlighted in bold for easy identification.
Notices have been issued to owners and occupants under relevant provisions of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, directing them to stop using these buildings immediately if they are unsafe. In severe cases, electricity and water connections may also be disconnected. Residents have been instructed to vacate or repair the structures based on their classification.
The corporation has also warned that if occupants continue to use these dangerous buildings and any accident occurs, the responsibility will lie solely with them, not the municipal body. Citizens have been urged to avoid staying in unsafe structures, especially during the monsoon season, due to the high risk of collapse and potential loss of life and property.
