Motorists travelling on Palm Beach Road should plan their journeys in advance as traffic restrictions will be in place on August 15 and 16, 2026, due to two separate events in the city.
The restrictions will affect traffic between Belapur and Vashi/Mumbai/Thane, with vehicles diverted to a single carriageway during specified hours. The carriageway in the opposite direction will remain closed during the restrictions.
The Vande Mataram Pratishthan, Sanpada, will organise an 8-km-long human chain and mass rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ on August 15.
As part of the arrangements, the Palm Beach Road carriageway from Belapur towards Vashi, Mumbai and Thane will remain closed up to Moraj Circle from 1:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
The main event will take place between 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM. The human chain will stretch from Killa Junction, near the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation headquarters, to Moraj Junction.
During the restriction period, traffic between Vashi and Belapur will move in both directions on a single carriageway.
Motorists travelling between Belapur and Vashi/Mumbai/Thane can consider the following alternative routes:
Commuters are advised to allow additional travel time, particularly during the morning hours.
Traffic restrictions will continue on Palm Beach Road on August 16 for the City Health Run–2026 marathon.
The carriageway from Belapur towards Vashi, Mumbai and Thane will remain closed beyond Moraj Circle from 1:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
During this period, traffic will be diverted onto the opposite carriageway, allowing vehicles to move in both directions.
In addition, the road alongside DPS School, connecting Killa Junction in Belapur to NRI Jetty, will remain closed during the event.

The temporary traffic restrictions will not apply to police vehicles, fire brigade vehicles, ambulances and other essential service vehicles.
Navi Mumbai Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Rahul Khade has appealed to motorists to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes wherever possible.
Motorists are advised to cooperate with the traffic police and keep extra time in hand while travelling through the affected areas. The restrictions are temporary and are being implemented to facilitate the smooth and safe conduct of both events.
