The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is set to take a major leap forward, with international flight services to begin in May 2026, announced CIDCO's Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Vijay Singhal.
Following the enthusiastic response to domestic flight services, NMIA is now geared up to expand its operations to global routes, marking an important milestone in its development.
The airport is now ready to handle international traffic, with around 35 international flights expected to operate daily once services begin. However, the exact launch date in May has not yet been finalised.
Earlier, international flights were scheduled to start on March 29, but the plan was delayed due to disruptions caused by geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
Infrastructure development is progressing alongside this growth.

Despite these advancements, concerns about connectivity remains a key issue for passengers. Many travelers have expressed dissatisfaction over limited and costly transport options, particularly from Mumbai’s western suburbs.
Social media feedback has highlighted the need for better accessibility, including affordable cab services, dedicated AC bus routes, and faster transit options such as metro or rapid rail links connecting the airport to different parts of the city.
As international operations prepare to begin, improving connectivity will be crucial in ensuring the airport’s long-term success and enhancing its role as a major global gateway.
