BMC has come down hard on illegal shops at the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Market also known as Crawford market dealing in exotic birds and animals. Now these shops will not be able to deal in exotic animals without a license.

BMC will be issuing licenses to about 1100 shops dealing in exotic birds, animals and fishes. This will be done under the act of 1888, under rule 398(2) of the Municipal corporation which will be sent to the State government for clearance. Once this bill is cleared, these shop owners will not be able to deal without a proper license from the BMC.
