The National Stock Exchange will contribute INR 380 crore from its CSR fund to establish the country’s largest bone marrow transplant (BMT) facility with 60 beds.

The 11-storey building, to be built by Larsen & Toubro (L&T), will be named the NSE Multispecialty Hospital Block & Bone Marrow Transplant Cancer Hospital, and will be handed over to ACTREC (Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer) upon completion.

The bhoomipujan (groundbreaking) ceremony for the facility was held on Sunday, in the presence of NSE CEO and MD Ashishkumar Chauhan, Tata Memorial Centre Director Dr. Sudeep Gupta, Dr. Chaturvedi, and Dr. Navin Khattry, Deputy Director of ACTREC and head of the BMT program.

Slated to begin operations by July 2027, the new facility will house 60 beds and is expected to manage around 1.3 lakh outpatient consultations annually. Currently, ACTREC treats over 300 patients daily and conducts more than 100 transplants every year. Notably, ACTREC pioneered indigenous CAR-T cell therapy for blood cancer patients in India in 2021.

The cost of a bone marrow transplant in India can exceed INR 40 lakh in private hospitals and is often priced above INR 10 lakh even in public institutions. The Tata Memorial Centre continues to support underprivileged families by raising donations to cover these high treatment costs.

In a statement, NSE said, “This collaboration represents a major step toward bridging the gap in affordable, high-quality cancer care across India, bringing critical treatment access to thousands in need.”
