The coronavirus vaccination drive at Mumbai's BKC Jumbo COVID Center, Mahim Maternity Center, Nair-Sion Hospital have been to be stopped due to the lack of vaccines. Sharing more information regarding the same, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar, in an interaction with the media, informed that the city currently has only one day's supply of vaccine left.
"I do not want to get involved in the current politics of coronavirus vaccine supply, but this should stop quickly, because we need to save the people from Mumbai, Maharashtra or any other state in the country," she said.
Currently, there Centre should observe the need to supply vaccines in proportion to the population. While the Prime Minister seems to be positive about Maharashtra's demand for more doses of vaccine, the administration does not seem to be as positive and vigilant, which is affecting the common man in Maharashtra.
Several people are being infected with coronavirus and due to the political game, the infection is not under control, state the experts. At present, many vaccination centers in Mumbai have run out of vaccines and the remaining few places have only one day's supply left. This has led to long queues at vaccination centers.
On the other hand, citizens who have taken the first dose of the vaccine are also visiting the centres for the second dose, which is not available. In such cases, questions are being raised about the benefits of taking just one dose.
Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar has also expressed such concerns, who said that she received the information about the lack of vaccines from the media reports. However, official information is yet to be sent from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
