Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange held a major protest at Azad Maidan starting at 10:00 am, attracting large crowds from across Maharashtra. Protesters had already begun gathering late Thursday, August 28, night, and by Friday, August 29 morning, the area around Azad Maidan, CSMT, Metro, and Churchgate saw a significant increase in footfall.

As part of the arrangements, police instructed the protestors to park their vehicles nearly 10 kilometers away, forcing many to walk long distances in heavy rain. This led to physical discomfort among several participants.
