Commuters travelling on the Sion-Panvel Highway are facing severe traffic congestion due to large potholes that have developed on the Kharghar flyover following heavy monsoon rains.
Motorists have reported long traffic snarls, slow-moving vehicles, and an increased risk of accidents as drivers are forced to slow down or change lanes to avoid the damaged stretch. The potholes have also raised concerns about commuter safety and vehicle damage.
The flyover, maintained by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), is a crucial link for thousands of daily commuters travelling between Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Panvel. With continuous rainfall worsening the road condition, residents and motorists have urged authorities to carry out immediate repairs to restore smooth traffic flow.
Officials have acknowledged the issue, and repair work is expected to be undertaken once weather conditions permit. However, commuters continue to face delays during peak hours as vehicles navigate the pothole-ridden stretch.
