Maharashtra Govt declares holiday on January 22 ahead of consecration ceremony of Lord Ram in Ayodhya

Monday, January 22, has been declared a public holiday by the Maharashtra state on the occasion of the ‘pran pratishtha’ (consecration ceremony) of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Before this, the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Goa have also declared a holiday on January 22, when the idol of Lord Ram will be consecrated in Ayodhya.

Several state governments have declared a holiday for their employees on January 22, 2024, enabling them to participate in the festivities marking the inauguration of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. The central government has also announced a half day on January 22. This implies that public sector banks will have a half-day closure. Additionally, in certain states, all banks will remain closed for the entire day.

The grand ceremony will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attended by many VVIPs, and will begin on January 22. A team of priests will perform the rituals of consecration of Lord Ram temple on January 22.
