Hindustan Lever Limited and HSBC Bank open a laundry service centre in Andheri East

One may come across people washing clothes in the open areas in some parts of Mumbai, and unlike the west, the city does not have many options for washing machines offered by the municipal corporation.

With an aim to offer a sigh of relief to the people of Andheri, the Municipal Corporation has launched a unique initiative in Andheri East's Ambewadi called 'Suvidha' in collaboration with private companies. The program aims to offer hygiene services and toilet facilities. 

Launched as a part of social responsibility initiative by Hindustan Lever Limited and HSBC Bank, the 'Suvidha Kendra' will be helpful for people to wash and dry their clothes at a nominal cost. As per reports, the facility will have a basin, soap, two showers, 40 toilets, sanitary napkins for women, a 24 hour supply of pure drinking water available at ₹1 for one liter and ₹15 for 20 liters.

Two laundry machines have been made available at this center. Buckets, soap powder are also supplied here. One bucket of rupees, which means about twelve rupees, can be washed. The water used for washing hands, brushing your teeth, washing clothes, bathing, and processing the water used for the toilet.

Reports also state that more than 250 families have used the facility so far.
