Several complaints have been raised regarding selling goods at railway stations and trains at higher prices. The complaints state that the products being sold are priced more than the Maximum Retail Price (MRP).

In order to deal with such situations, the railway administration has decided to impose QR codes on every food item so that passengers are not charged higher rates.

Moreover, there have been many complaints about the quality of food items and their prices. Along with this, issues related to expiry dates have also been reported. Therefore, the QR code on food items sold at Mumbai Central terminus has been installed by IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation).
