On Thursday, April 8, Mumbai, Thane and Palghar along with some areas of the Konkan belt received light showers amidst the scorching heat reported across the state in the past few days.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), for the next few days, the sky will be partly cloudy all over the Konkan area, including Mumbai, bringing about relief to the citizens. Moreover, thunderstorms are also expected in some parts of the Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. In addition, a low-pressure area has been formed over the state. On the other hand, as per the IMD, rainfall is expected in all parts of the state for the next four days. Also on the cards are thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.

Meanwhile, in the 24 hours ending early morning on Thursday, the IMD's Santacruz observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 34.8-degree celsius whereas the temperature clocked in the Colaba observatory was 33-degree Celsius during the same period. Moreover, the Relative Humidity (RH) during the same period at the Santacruz observatory was 76 per cent, whereas RH recorded at the Colaba observatory was 87 per cent.

The citizens of Mumbai have been observing overcast skies and gusty winds for the past couple of days hoping for rainfall in order to receive relief from the hot and humid conditions. Their guess seems to have worked with the prediction of rainfall across areas of Maharashtra.
