RPF constable Vinod Shinde’s presence of mind saved 25-year-old Ravi Balu from falling in the gap between the train and the platform. If it would not have been for Shinde, Balu wouldn't have survived.

On Saturday evening, Balu tried boarding the Panvel-Nanded Express but to his dismay, he was not able to get onto the train and lost his footing. Seeing Balu getting dragged away, at first, a person came ahead for help but backed away fearing for his life. But, police constable Shinde jumped to action and quickly pulled him away from the moving train.

Balu who is a Pen resident works as a personal assistant to the Alibaug Zilla Parishad chief. Apparently, he was running late and had almost missed the train.

Sunil Udasi, Central Railway PRO said that the train was running at approximately 30 kmph. He added that Shinde risked his life and saved Balu from getting crushed under the train. Balu  escaped with no injuries.
