The Mumbai Traffic Police have announced a series of parking curbs, including odd-even parking, in Sakinaka, Bhandup-Mulund belt for nearly a month.

It is an effort to ease growing traffic congestion across key stretches of Mumbai.

Officials said the new measures are aimed at improving traffic flow, preventing roadside bottlenecks and ensuring smoother movement for emergency and essential service vehicles along with daily commuters.

Parking Restrictions in Sakinaka:

Heavy roadside parking on Technology Street in Sakinaka has been creating severe congestion and obstructing the movement of ambulances, fire brigade vehicles and other emergency services.

The affected stretch runs from Olympia Building to Gopal Chandrabhan Circle, where local residents, office employees and shopkeepers frequently park vehicles on both sides of the road.

To address the issue, authorities have introduced a temporary odd-even parking system on the stretch. Under the new arrangement:

  • Parking allowed on the left side of the road on even dates of every month.
  • Parking will be permitted on the right side of the road on odd-numbered dates.

The restrictions came into effect on May 7 and will remain in force until August 6.

Odd-Even Parking System for Bhandup-Mulund:

The affected stretch extends from Khot Gully to Shivaji Lake, an internal road where local residents and office workers frequently park vehicles on both sides, narrowing available carriage space. Authorities said the new odd-even parking arrangement is expected to improve vehicle movement and reduce bottlenecks in the area.

Under the revised rules:

  • Parking will be permitted on the left side of Jungle Mangal Road, from Shivaji Lake to Khot Gully, on even dates.
  • Parking is allowed on the right side on odd dates.

Parking of all heavy vehicles has also been prohibited on the stretch. The restrictions in the Bhandup-Mulund belt will remain effective from May 12 until August 11.
