Sewri TB hospital staffer dies of TB

Hospital staffs working in Sewri TB hospital are in continuous threat of acquiring tuberculosis. On Tuesday an employee named Shivanand Pote died of tuberculosis. Shivanand didn’t receive any financial help from the administration. As of now, 800 patients are being treated in the hospital. The hospital can accommodate 1200 patients. Working staff in the hospital include 80 doctors, 220 nurses, 170 cleaning staff and 165 ward boys.

On daily basis, there is the shortage of 200 – 215 workers in the hospital. 52 staff members have fallen prey to Tuberculosis from 2005 – 2017. Dr Pradeep Narkar, Secretary Municipal Mazdoor Union has requested the administration to admit workers who are suffering from TB and provide them with requisite medications and leave to recuperate. Family members of the staff who died cause’ of TB shall be given employment in the hospital further added Narkar.
