The block has been planned to enable the construction of a new shunting neck, modifications to sick siding facilities, expansion of maintenance sidings and pit lines, and diversion of water supply, drainage and stormwater pipelines. Railway officials said the works are essential for enhancing operational efficiency, safety and future capacity at the busy Mumbai terminal.
The maintenance block will begin at 8 am on June 24 and continue until 4 pm on June 26, affecting several long-distance mail and express services.
Several Trains to Terminate at Thane
As a result of the block, a number of trains scheduled to arrive at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) will instead be short-terminated at Thane Railway Station.

Central Railway has also revised departure timings for several trains originating from LTT during the block period.

Passengers travelling between June 24 and June 27 have been advised to check updated train schedules and terminal information before commencing their journey.
Infrastructure Upgrade Underway
According to Central Railway, the project includes the expansion of pit lines in maintenance sidings, upgrades to washing and sick lines, and improvements to drainage and utility infrastructure. The railway administration has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and said the temporary disruption is necessary to support long-term infrastructure development at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus.
The railway has urged passengers to verify train timings through official railway enquiry channels and station announcements before travel.
