Badlapur, which has been facing water shortage for the past few years due to various reasons, will get relief. The state government has approved INR 260 crores increased water supply scheme under Suvarna Jayanti Nagarotthan Mahabhiyan. It will have two new water purification stations, 14 water tanks, and new water channels. Water capacity sufficient for the population of approximately seven and a half lakhs in the year 2056 will be created through this scheme.
Badlapur city has been suffering from water problems for the last few years due to lack of distribution system, its capacity and water reservoirs. Water is supplied to the city through the Maharashtra Life Authority. However, there are complaints that the houses at the far end of the reservoir are getting water at low pressure. The population of Badlapur city is increasing day by day. This may cause water problems in the future.
Therefore, MLA Kisan Kathore of Murbad Assembly Constituency demanded approval of increased water supply scheme for Badlapur city. Accordingly, the state government has approved the increased water supply scheme of INR 260 cr. This will create the capacity to supply water to a population of about 7 lakh 62 thousand which will increase by the year 2056. So there will be a water system for the next 32 years. MLA Kisan Kathore has commented that the increased water supply schemes will definitely bring relief to the citizens of Badlapur and Murbad.
