Swine flu claims the third victim from city

A 30-year-old pregnant woman became the third victim of swine flu in the city this year. 37 people are suffering from this disease. There is a rise in the number of cases in comparison to last year. About 525 houses in Tilak Nagar area in Chembur are under surveillance of BMC. The toll in the state has reached 210 informed Dr Pradip Awte, State Surveillance Officer. 

Victim Shabana Sheikh was 34 weeks pregnant. Sheikh was admitted on 13 May and was diagnosed with swine flu on 16 May in Kasturba Hospital.Sheikh was shifted to Sion hospital where she was declared dead by the doctors on the same day.Dr Padmaja Keskar, Executive Health Officer told that 1058 cases of swine flu have been reported across the state since January.
