Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has announced that there will be a complete 24-hour water supply shutdown in many parts of the city from 9 am on June 12, 2026. TMC has clarified that this shutdown is necessary for the ongoing important water pipeline connection work by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

Why is the water supply shut down?

The work of the Anandnagar to Saket elevated road project has affected the 813 mm diameter main water pipeline leading to the Indiranagar reservoir.

As a solution, the MMRDA has laid a new 900 mm diameter high-capacity water pipeline of 800 meters long out of the planned 2,200 meters. Now the old water pipeline will be closed and the new water pipeline will be connected to the city's water supply system.

Shutdown Schedule

  • Start: 12 June 2026, Friday at 9 am
  • End: 13 June 2026, Saturday at 9 am
  • Duration: 24 hours

The municipality said that even after the water supply is resumed, there is a possibility of water supply with low pressure for 1 to 2 days.

Water supply is completely shut in these areas

  • Indiranagar, Sathenagar, Ambewadi, Davlenagar
  • Savarkarnagar
  • Lokmanya Nagar (Pada No. 2, 3 and 4)
  • Chaitinagar, Pereranagar, Zhanjenagar
  • Srinagar, Kisannagar, Shivtekdi, Shantinagar
  • Kailasnagar, Bhatwadi, Worlipada
  • Rupadevi Pada, Ramnagar and C.P. Lake area
  • Yeur and adjacent areas

Appeal to citizens

The Thane civic body has appealed to the citizens of the affected areas to store water in advance and use the available water sparingly.
