Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has announced a 24-hour water supply shutdown from 12 noon on Thursday, May 21 to 12 noon on Friday, May 22. Many important areas of Thane will be affected during this period.
This water cut is being done due to urgent repair and improvement works of Barvi Gravity Main Line No. 1, 2 and 3 of Jambhul Water Treatment Plant under the jurisdiction of MIDC Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).
Decision in the backdrop of water shortage
This decision has been taken after a high-level meeting held on April 23 regarding water shortage in Andhra and Barvi dams. The administration clarified that these works are being done with the aim of properly managing the available water reserves till August 2026.
Which areas will be affected?
Diva and Kalwa - The entire ward committee area will remain completely closed for water supply.
Mumbra - Water supply will remain suspended in most areas.

Rupadevi Pada
Kisannagar No. 2
Nehru Nagar
Manpada
Kolshet Khalcha village area
However, some areas in ward numbers 26 and 31 have been exempted from this reduction.
Notice to citizens
The municipal corporation has appealed to the citizens to store sufficient water in advance. It has also said that the water pressure is likely to remain low for the next 24 to 48 hours after the water supply resumes after Friday afternoon.
Therefore, the administration has appealed to the citizens to use water sparingly.
